Welcome!
Welcome to the Women in Engineering program!

Women in Engineering (WiE) is a support program based out of the College of Engineering. We are here to help prepare you for a successful career in one of the many disciplines of engineering through a variety of recruitment, retention and outreach programs. There are many opportunities for you to network with peers, professionals and faculty, who can all provide you with valuable advice and guidance as you pursue your engineering degree. We hope that you take a look and see how Women in Engineering can enhance your experience at OSU!

Ohio State's Women in Engineering Program Receives National Award

The Women in Engineering Programs and Advocates Network (WEPAN) has awarded Ohio State’s Women in Engineering Program with the 2006 Women in Engineering Initiative Award. Glenda La Rue, director of the Ohio State WIE program, accepted the award, which is presented to advocacy programs that serve as a model for other WIE programs and actively share experiences and materials with other programs; serve as a model for WIE programming for formal pre-college or retention activities/projects; demonstrate improvements in the educational environment for women in engineering; and provide programming that offers professional guidance to students and/or faculty who seek engineering and science as a career or profession.

Ohio State's Women in Engineering (WiE) program offers services and programs to support its students academically, professionally and personally. WiE also hosts events to get pre-college students excited about engineering. Through open houses, workshops and school visits, WiE introduces young students to the career possibilities available with an engineering degree.

The Women in Engineering Programs & Advocates Network (WEPAN) is a national not-for-profit organization founded in 1990. WEPAN has over 600 members from nearly 200 engineering schools, small businesses to Fortune 500 corporations, and non-profit organizations. WEPAN’s mission is to be a catalyst, advocate, and leading resource for institutional and national change that will result in the full participation of women in engineering.

Ohio State 2005-2006 Broadcast TV Public Service Announcements - Woman in Engineering:

Check out http://www.osu.edu/dosomethinggreat/archive/psa05/index.php to see a video of a woman in engineering from Ohio State!

Is it a time-out? Halftime? Then you might see these :30 second spots air during this year's televised football and men's basketball games. These aren't actors, we simply turned the camera on some Ohio State students and let them talk (and talk). All have big plans—which a comprehensive institution like Ohio State is helping them realize.

The spots were shot in late July 2005 in some familiar locations around campus, including Browning Amphitheater, Page Hall, and in front of Ohio State's (main) Thompson Library.

They're small snapshots of real Ohio State students who are "doing something great." Click on PSA#5 "Sara" to see the woman in engineering!

Our program plans activities for both primary and secondary students and those enrolled in Engineering.
